Established in 1949, Aiglon College is a renowned, non-profit independent boarding school located high in the Swiss Alps, in the village of Chesières-Villars. Here, education is based on the balanced development of mind, body, and spirit, following the vision of the founder, John Corlette, who believed in nurturing balanced personal growth. The school would like to realise each student's full potential and many of their students go on to attend world-class universities.
The school was founded on a distinctive ethos: the balanced development of mind, body, and spirit. This philosophy underpins everything at Aiglon, both inside and outside the classroom.
Aiglon College has gathered teenagers between 9 and 18 from more than 50 countries. In this big student family, all sorts of religions, languages and cultures come together, promoting multicultural development and mutual understanding.
The faculty of Aiglon College will try their utmost to create an honest, open-minded and solidary atmosphere. These qualities lay the foundation for us to maintain discipline, have discussions, establish friendships and spread pastoral care.
Students follow the challenging International GCSE (IGCSE) and International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB Diploma) programmes. The school also offers optional courses for the American SAT exams. The school provides expert support for students who speak English as an additional language, who go on to take Cambridge and International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exams.
The school participates in accreditation programmes through the Council of International Schools (CIS), the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), European Council of International Schools (ECIS), Federation for EDucation in Europe (FEDE), the Council of British International Schools of European Community (COBISEC) and the Boarding Schools' Association (BSA). Aiglon is authorised as IB World School, offering the IB Diploma Programme.
In addition, they are affiliated to or a member of a number of educational and professional organisations, demonstrating our commitment to the continuous pursuit of excellence.
Aiglon's approach to learning encourages a student's balanced development: not only academically, but also emotionally, morally, physically and spiritually.
The Aiglon curriculum extends far beyond academics. They offer a huge range of activities, including our expeditions programme, service and leadership, sport, music, art, and drama. They encourage all students to develop their skills and talents, and they work hard to build students' character and resilience.
