Founded as an international boarding school in 1889, Institut auf dem Rosenberg is located on the beautiful Rosenberg above the city of St. Gallen. Zurich and its international airport can be reached within 1 hour. Its geographic location allows boarders to fully experience the natural seasons and to engage in numerous sports and leisure time options that excites both children and young adults.

Institut auf dem Rosenberg today is one of the oldest and best known private and international boarding schools in Switzerland, and it is the only school of its kind in the German-speaking part of Switzerland offering students a remarkable diversity in academic choices combined with facilities of highest quality and standards.

Curriculum system

Institut auf dem Rosenberg teaches two of its academic programmes in English (British GCE A Levels, US High School Diploma and AP Examinations), two programmes in German (German Abitur, Swiss Matura) and one in Italian (Italian Esame di Stato).

Parallel to the above, Institut auf dem Rosenberg also offers intensive language courses and support as well as language certificates such as Cambridge, DELF, PLIDA, Goethe, etc.

Teaching characteristics

Students can choose between five different national academic systems - namely Swiss, German, Italian, US and UK systems - enabling each of the students to find the most suitable learning programme to prepare him or her for higher education.

The Institut's academic education is enriched by a diverse offering in extracurricular activities and workshops, whether in fields such as art and design, drama and music, media relations, presentation skills or interview techniques. There are many opportunities to practice teamwork, public speaking and leadership skills in protected environments such as the school's annual Rosenberg Ball.
